31 days ago - blackout - today?
31 Days a go, I sat down for the "usual" night of youtube consumption.
Something that after 4 hours a night of - I felt worse for.
Add to that the fact that
I was hammered, watching God know what on youtube ALL NIGHT long, till I passed out
(blacked out) in my chair- head slouched ....youtube playing on.......
CRAWL to bed.....
Only to wake up and post here
"Im DONE" - or something to that effect.
I am 30 days in today!!!!
Ive watched a few youtube viideos here and the - but ALSO am halfway through two books...
and SOBER and really feeling BETTER. Thinking clearer - remembering things - you know
life before the poison.
Thanks to you all for the support.

I wonder why this drunken Youtube indulgence is so common in alcoholics? It was definitely a big part of what I did as well. Guess we can't do many things wasted that require decent attention and processing (e.g. reading or watching a whole movie with a narrative), and short videos are accessible, stimulating and easy enough. Congrats on 30 days, keep it up!

Good for you. I used to wake up in my recliner with my computer on the floor with about a dozen youtube tabs open, either of music or movie clips. And they were always the same ones over and over. I must have seen that bank robbery/shootout scene from Heat about a thousand times while drunk or blacked out. And when I was sober I wouldn't watch any of those videos or listen to those songs. I think maybe it gave me the illusion that I wasn't alone in my place drinking and instead in the middle of something exciting with other people.

I'm another who used to do drunken YouTube watching. I sometimes look through my YouTube history to see what I was watching. It's a bizarre mix of things from decent music to miaowing cats. The one thing they all have in common is I have next to no memory of watching them.

I've really reduced my political, and other grizzly crime stuff on YouTube. It was making me anxious and depressed. I now watch a lot of 'nature' and art videos. There are some really great ones. Watching stuff grow is very relaxing. Hopeful.

I would never look to see what I watched.... lol
