Official that I need to stop drinking alcohol.
This is day 1 for me. I've quit for 4 months at my longest once, and during that entire time I held down a job, worked, left to go home and stayed there, isolated. With alcohol, I want to go out and be with people, do interesting things. Sober, I feel so uncomfortable in my own skin and want to stay away. Alcohol is definitely a problem but so is that, hoping I can find a way to deal with that when I start having some sober weeks under my belt.
Welcome to SR itsaguy. You can definitely find ways to have fun and feel comfortable without alcohol. I felt the same way when I quit as you do , but trust those in this community to help you find new ways to enjoy life.

It is your alcoholism putting that doubt in your mind about “how am I ever going to fit in and engage socially without drinking”. I had the same mind games going on. It just takes time. When I quit- it wasn’t a day at a time- it was a hour at a time.... then a day at a time. Having done four months, you know what it is like to get a little time under your belt. I quit for about a year one time- but I never truly believed I was “powerless and my life had become unmanageable” until I started drinking again and was right back where I was. It helped a lot knowing I really am no different than other alcoholics. Ive been to class reunions, weddings, funerals, birthday parties and enjoyed my sparkling water- had more engaging experiences at these sober than I ever did while drinking. Hang in there. One hour/ day at a time- it’ll get easier.

Like Dee says sort the staying sober bit out first as that’s the crucial part. Once you’ve got a good sober platform to work from then you can start working on the other stuff. Give time, time. Many people felt Exactly like you do now and have recovered to have very healthy social lives.
