6 Months

Today marks 6 months no with no booze or pot. It’s been a rough week. Normally I would be self medicating during a week like this. Still trying to develop coping skills to deal with stress and anxiety. Anyway, this way of living is way better. Thanks everyone for being there for me. This is a great place to be!

No alcohol=no regrets. Looking at what I was like at 6 months sober to where I am now at almost 12 months, big difference. I've grown a lot. You still have a lot to look forward to in your first year.

Congratulations!

Great work FishingDude! That's amazing to quit both.

Any tips for others who might be struggling in their first 30 days?

I would say get plenty of exorcise and go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday. It gets easier but if you are like me you used booze/pot to cope with life and didn’t have any other coping skills. It gets easier as you get use to being uncomfortable. Every time you are stressed and don’t drink you are building your sober muscles...that’s what someone told me early on. I hope that helps! I’m new to this as well!

Wonderful Work!
Anxiety is such a beast for me as well. Keep on going.

Well done FishingDude!

Those sober muscles seem to grow stronger with each passing day it seems.

Congratulations.

I feel the same way this week. It is harder to deal with the emotional stuff. At least I am really living. Best of luck to you and thank you for the post.

Congratulations on 6 months sober! I can tell you at getting near a decade down the line that it keeps getting better! Not always easy but the tough times always lead to massive growth 🙏
