5 weeks
Another week gone bye. I have been mostly well.
I had a bbq lunch today with a long time drinking buddy and got through it sober.
Anxiety through the roof this arvo because of family drama. Really uncomfortable, lost appetite, too much adrenaline

Noticed some cooking wine whilst preparing dinner. Straight down the drain hole it went. Trying to keep the nerves at Bay. Sometimes it's harder than it should be to NOT worry about things that are out of my control.
Congratulations on 5 weeks! Whatever you are feeling it will eventually pass so stay the course. As you already know, drinking doesn’t solve anything. As time moves on the urge will fade as other activities takes it place. Every month I seem to move to a new level where I gain more clarity.
like I’ve heard on here before, I never once woke up regretting not drinking the night before.

Patience is what I have learned. When I start getting antsy, I concentrate on relaxing and knowing that what is bothering me really doesn't matter. I just keep realizing that my sobriety is the most important thing in my life. Best wishes for you on your journey!

Hi FC - good work on 5 weeks! My anxiety was really bad and became noticeably better at 10 weeks... I hope the same is true for you
When i feel anxious I walk. There is something about the movement that helps me. Sometimes those walks are long!! The only time I didn't walk to ease my emotions was if I had bad cravings, just in case I walked into a pub.

Congrats on 5 weeks!! I'm a couple of weeks ahead of you, and should warn you that you might start to get cocky and think you've got it under control and can have a drink or 2 no problem. At least that's what happened to me. Stay strong. I think that all these covid restrictinos have made for a great time to stop drinking because we can't go anywhere and you have an easy excuse for not going out with friends and drinking.
