12 days sober
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. Great to be here. Currently 12 days sober and feeling more energised and happy. I do worry about forthcoming social engagements and whether I'll be strong enough to just say "no" but so far, so good, and I am content to take this journey a day at a time. Have a great day everyone.

welcome, NE,
instead of relying on strength alone, it's useful to have a plan and strategy. things like: bring your own stuff you like to drink, always have a drink in your hand already of something lovely and non-a, obv., hang close to others who are not drinking, make sure you have a way of leaving at any time, and most of all: do not attend if you feel it is too risky in any way, shape or form.

Welcome NE. One thing you should know up front is that far fewer people than you think will notice, or even care, what you are drinking. Avoid the occasions at which drinking is the sole purpose of the get-together and if you think you will drink if it is offered to you (a VERY common slip I think), just avoid those occasions for now. Like fini says, just think things through each day and have a plan to stay sober. Excellent job on 12 days!!!
