Still in Isolation!

I hope everyone is doing okay will the quarantine and isolation. It is a hard time for me, no family anywhere in this province other than my fiance so I miss my brother, parents and grandma a lot.
however, I am making the most of it...or so I think. Since March I believe I have drank twice. I started working from home and at first all I did was eat, eat, eat and watch TV. Lots of time to drink and go to the liquor store but I didn't really.
I have been in a routine of eating 1500 calories a day (trying to lose weight), bootcamp 5 times a week, running 3 times a week and walking 7+ times a week! I am probably in the best shape of my life and on day 28 of being sober with a 1 day relapse in May.
however. I'm getting so sick of not being able to leave the city. I used to basically live in the airport and now I'm just poor since I'm on wage subsidy and my fiance lost his job due to covid and I'm also depressed AF at the state of the earth.

Anyways I haven't posted in a while and just needed to vent a bit.
Struggling to stay sober, but trying so hard.

Hi there anxious,

sounds like me 25 years ago. I couldn't quit back then, it took a near stroke to scare me straight at 50.

trust me, stay quit now. Wish i had sr, 35 years ago. But, I might not have listened back then. Addiction is fierce.

What do you eat each meal to keep it healthy and 1500 cals a day?

thanks.

I am trying to eat about 130gr protein per day so usually eggs or a salad with lean turkey for breakfast, lots of 0% Greek yogurt, quinoa or rice, chicken breast, berries, pineapple, all veggies, peanut butter....pretty much everything haha. Saturday for my evening meal I have something with my fiance like pizza or pasta to carb up and then its back to lots of protein. I feel great as I've always had eating issues and I'm finally on the right path.

Hi AR

its tough not being able to move around too freely right now - but this will end. Try and be patient I guess - its all we can do.
Congrats on your sober time and your health ,

D

Sounds like a lot of good to celebrate! As for the sadness, I think one good thing to come of the global situation is the the knowledge that you’re not alone at least.

Make sure that you are not dwindling your willpower with the clean eating. I think that could be part of what has triggered me in the past. Sounds good that you are carbing up here and there though.

The isolation has been so surreal anxiousrock. I'm glad you seem to have made the best of it save a slip or two. I think a healthy diet and good nutrition are among the top 5 tools I use to stay sober. I try to shy away from any sort of "diet", try to eat mostly fruits and vegees, and stick to rational portions of the occasional steak or cheesecake splurges. But I echo the caution laid down by Maximus above. On the days you need to, eat any gd thing you want. A feeling of deprivation can be very triggering I think. Keep up the great work!!!

Sounds like you are doing really well on the drinking and health front! I am trying to do somethings similar in going high protein and low carb. I think it helps my cravings and definitely stabilises sugar.

What's happening in the world is really overwhelming just now and I'm the same, it's hard to cope with some days. There are lots of amazing ways people are helping each other and coming together because of this, I try to focus on that when it feels like the end of the world xx
