3 weeks has arrived and so has irritation

Just checking in and saying made it to the 3 week mark, thank God!
Very grateful I made it this far but man does everything seem to **** me off. I am assuming this is normal but my patience is minimal at best. Working the whole slow to speak, quick to listen deal, slow to anger but I'm ripping apart before I can even process stuff.
Today im not going to drink though. Just wondering if others had/have this as well at around 3 weeks??

Congratulations on reaching 3 weeks. Yes, I remember really struggling emotionally at around 3 weeks but I got through it. Posting here often helped me in those early weeks.

Well done on getting to 3 weeks sober.

Perfectly normal and recovery is all about learning new ways to cope with life on life’s terms. It’s all about change in literally every sense. Stay sober and working on your recovery and the changes will come in time.

Meditation is great for irritation. Exercising too. Really helped me when I felt like killing someone! Keep going, you are doing great.

There are a few people who claim they did not experience increased irritability when they sobered up, but I am not sure I believe them. I was ate up with it.
People here at SR told me it would get better if I stayed the course.
They were right.

From 33F to 211F you have to add a lot of energy and all you do is turn cold water into hot water. But with just a little extra energy you can turn hot water into steam. Steam can propel a locomotive engine.
Don't stop adding energy until there's steam.

Well done on 3 weeks!

Lol I like the steam talk...

I hit a meeting and did some writing and reading. That helped. I shouldn't be suprised, 20 off and on again.years of living in a fog for the most part so gonna take a while I suppose. But again I am thankful for 3 weeks.

After all that time it's going to be a major change for you and things take time to settle down, but it does get better if you hang in there. I find exercise to be a big help.

It is pretty common vkf, I tried to remember it was part of my mind and body healing and, most importantly, it wasn't someone elses fault I found myself in the place I was.

Things can and will get better

Congrats on 3 weeks that is great! I'm starting week 4 (day 28)...so I really do understand the irritation.

Every 30 days an emotional roller coaster. That's my early recovery. Be vigilant and stay sober!! You can do it no matter what!

Don’t be too irritated, and give yourself the credit you deserve for three weeks. Unfortunately, feeling under the weather generally is normal in the first few weeks. Whilst the cravings might come and go a lot longer, you should start to feel happier soon.

I’m 17 months sober. Time’s flown. You’ll be fine if you keep on doing what you’re doing.
