11 weeks ago today

11 weeks ago today I got horribly drunk. Same as every day for a very long period, I'd rehearsed the same old mess for about 20 years. At this point I was pouring so much sugar down my throat, about 1300 calories a day in unrefined sugar in the cider I used to drink.

Now I've got a sweet tooth for delicious foods! I detoxed hard, I'm sure from the sugar as well as the obvious alcohol detox. And now I can choose what I eat and drink and I get to eat some lush, sweet treats. I eat cakes, ice creams, chocolate bars, puddings, golden syrup on porridge. I love a glass of orange juice.

Im losing weight and getting fit due to walking and running and generally having more energy...and I eat more, and I eat more mindfully. 11 weeks ago I could barely eat at all and never enjoyed what I did eat. Today I love my food again.

I'm almost grateful to have drunk for so long as I'm now so surprised and pleased with pleasures other people take for granted. I'm going to work at keeping that going

When I’m sober I eat WAY worse than I do when I’m drinking but still lose weight, my blood pressure drops, in fact my resting pulse when I’m in my drinking days is almost 90. When I’m sober it is 58. I drank only the hardest stuff 100poof and up - absolutely pure poison. Killing myself.

Congrats to you Be. What a chance we’ve been given.

Well done. I drank cider too, at the end of my drinking (I had a prolonged end, the cider phase went on for years).

That is awesome Be123. I'm with you. The daily rewards of sobriety still motivate me. Let's stay sober and keep the good days coming.

Well done Be123! Eating healthy is a tough one when not drinking. So worth it though.
