So we need a fun activity today.....and seeing it's Lunar's birthday, I thought we could play "pass the parcel". Do you remember that game? Is it just an Aussie thing?

We sit in a circle and pass around this parcel wrapped in layers and layers of newspaper, and there is music on.....and then it stops. Every time it stops, whoever has the parcel in their hands rips off a layer (gosh this game was fun)....no one knows how many layers there are or what is inside. Or who will end up with the gift inside. The layers get ripped off until only the gift is left....

So....as we can't quite do that, I am going to change it up. Let's just say we are playing, and when the music stops and the last layer is gone, the gift is in Lunar's hands.

My challenge to you is to guess what it is. And no, it isn't a spider.
Even though Lunar would love that....

So clues....

Clue No 1: The gift is light....the package feels like there is not much inside.

Clue No 2:

Reid 11 months is huge. Big congratulations.

Glad to see you post Vinny.

Off to queue at the supermarket shortly.

Another day another tree tunnel. (well yesterday) .

That looks lovely. I notice you live in London. Have you ever walked along the Northern Heights? It's basically the disused railway line that used to run from Alexandra Palace to Finsbury Park. It's over 5 miles in length and has plenty of tree tunnels. When I lived in London in the late 1980s it was one of a number of walks I used to do on a Sunday afternoon and it was probably by far the best.

For a crowded and built up city there are some beautiful open spaces to walk in and around the London area.

Serene Saturday, Sailors ~

My Ocean Pic below was taken last Year while sitting under Coast Highway 1 in Albion CA. By Mendocino. The oldest intact Wood Trestle in the State [for a Highway] is overhead. This RV Camping Joint right behind me was built on the site of an old Redwood Lumber Mill that exported Railroad Ties to Mexico back in the '20s or so. A really fascinating History. While plopped down there with MesaDog, I found a RR Tie Spike well-encrusted with Barnacles. There was an ~1,100' Causeway - long gone - that hauled finished Ties on Railroad Cars out to Ships moored in the treacherous Bay. The Spike I kept as a Trip Momento was one that washed up from that Causeway.

I found it weird that the Air Horn on the Bay Rocks - center - was intermittent. Kinda useless. Well, this Coast Guard Gent wandered by with some sort of Hand-held Gizmo to operate the Air Horn from the Beach. Later, I asked him what was up? He'd gotten unverifiable Reports of the Air Horn not working sometimes. Well, I filled in the blanks with Geek Testimony about when it did/did not work over the last few Days. That detailed info really made his Day because it was First Person, and credible. Off he went to file a Work Order to hoist a Coast Guard Tech onto the Rocks with Equipment for the Air Horn repair.

I found this Song, having been to Skye, without knowing it was the Theme Song for Outlander. MesaMate's favorite TV Series. Jamie in a Kilt, and all that...

~ 'The Skye Boat Song' ~ Ella Roberts ~

I notice there are some "sailor" or "sailing" songs being posted.

My contribution: anyone who listens to the Shipping Forecast on the UK radio station Radio 4 will be familiar with this lovely piece of music

Sailing By

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFdas-kMF74

The tune was composed by Ronald Binge. Despite its olde worlde sound it dates from 1963.

(I don't know how to embed the video. Clicking the YouTube option doesn't work for me)

Here you go Robbie.
You just delete everything before and including the equals symbol. So you copy this between the YT signs (dFdas-kMF74)

Yes I did that walk last year on a meetup. We started at Alley Pally walked through Highgate Woods then on to the disused railway track and finished at Finsbury Park. It was a nice interesting walk but I do prefer it a bit more rural.

Trent Park if you know it is just over the road from me, so while in lock down I only walk there. Before that I often went to Epping Forest, Lea Valley and Broxbourne Woods.

Love the shipping forecast music and have listened to it for years on Radio 4. Always makes me feel calm. Once me and my ex were on the way to visit his family in Donegal and we were not far off the late shipping forecast and also not far from Malin Head so we drove like maniacs to get there in time for it and cheered when they got to that lighthouse lol x
