7 years, no itch!
7 years, no itch!
I'm not usually one to make posts about yearly milestones, but I figured that with a lot of newcomers probably on edge because of all the disturbance the virus pandemic has caused, a simple message of hope might be appropriate.
Sobriety IS WORTH IT.
A sober life IS MUCH BETTER than a drunk life.
DO whatever it takes to stop drinking and to make the changes in your life that are necessary to support sustained sobriety.
I had my doubts when I finally put the bottle down for good 7 years ago today. To all those people who would say how AMAZING their lives were in sobriety, I'd say, "yeah, right."
Well, it turns out they were correct.
No "7-year itch" for me -- when they said that one day I wouldn't think about drinking, and wouldn't think about not-drinking either, they were right about that, too.
It starts with putting down the bottle. It ends with a contentment I never thought I'd achieve again. C'mon in, the water's fine!
