New here... 31 days sober today

Hello, I’m new here, 34 years old and 31 days sober today. This is the longest I’ve been sober in over a decade. I hired a life coach who specializes with drinking issues and addiction, so far she’s been really helpful and teaching me to face urges and manage emotions. Still have lots of self work to do though. Just wanted to introduce myself.

You are so so smart to get your arms around this thing when you are so young. I am two decades gone from you and would give anything to have those two decades back sober and healthy. Welcome to SR. You will get much support here. Also great about help and support from your life coach. Post here often and tell us how things are going for you. Living in Day 76 here. First 76 days sober in 30+ years.

Welcome to the group. I don't know that I've heard of someone using a life coach, and that sounds really interesting. I hope you post often.

Great to have you with us, Lilsweetie. 31 days - how wonderful. What I wouldn't give to go back and take action at your age. Be proud of yourself for seeing what needed to happen and taking control.

31 days is a long time for a drunk to be sober. If I made it that long, i got this.

Just curious...did coach mention anything about permanent brain damage and dopamine alteration from booze and other drugs?

Thanks.

No I think that's something you'd have to talk to a doctor about.

Welcome to the family. A month is a great start, and you're smart to get sober when you're still young. You'll have fewer regrets when you get older.

Well done on your first month Lilsweetie. I've also done my first month. Now going to get through February. Seems it was easy peasy but at the same time really difficult. When I look back I can't quite believe that I did it.

Let's each make it 2. That's only 24 days away!
