Just hit 18 months sober from alcohol..
Quitting = best decision I could possibly make.
After 6 to 7 years of alcohol fueled chaos.
Even after a dui, ruined relationships, lost job etc. I still continued. My brain craved that brain chemistry change from booze so much that it didn't care it was a problem...or was just in complete denial it was.
To all newcomers, just keep going forward and have patience! Give your bodies time to heal so you can actually face the real you. Cravings will come....find a hobby you like. Think of what your interests and passions were before alcohol took over. There's so much out there in this world to enjoy besides a toxin-induced buzz.
I still have lots to learn. But that's beauty of it. I can actually grow as a person now which was impossible when I was drinking.
I see some posts about moderation. I attempted this for years. For me...it was a complete waste of time and effort. Better to cut the beast off at the head than try and wrestle it constantly.
Happy 24 everyone.
