First week behind me

1 down a lifetime more ahead.
I have been very patient and worked hard to keep calm as I know that if I get too excited or frustrated my desire to drink is more prominent.
I turned down a catch up with some friends due to my lack of confidence.
Still waking up with neck headaches.
Till next week

Hey! First week down for me too! Well tomorrow at least. But that dreadful withdrawal day a week ago, I kept repeating to myself “it’s always darkest before the dawn” and I finally feel better. I know we have a long road ahead, but I know it’s going to 1000 times better than where we came from. Congrats on a week. We can do this!

Hi goose.
a week feels good. A clear headed starting point for the long journey of healing this body.

Hi Finalcall

I am on day 9 and have been waking up with a headache too, although today it seems to be improving

Form what I have been reading, this can be something that happens after giving up alcohol.

Well done to you, and I love '1 done a lifetime more ahead' <3

Well done. 1 week is amazing and that first week is hard but you never have to do that again.

It's ok to turn down things if youbare not feeling ready for them whatever the reason. Early recovery took alot out of me and I had to really concentrate on looking after me and what was best for me.

Congratulations again, here's to the rest of your life

Congratulations Badga, FinalCall and MOOSE!

I'm latching right onto the idea of getting past those "magical" numbers - 1 week, 1 month, 2 months, and so on - with an attitude of "a lifetime more ahead" (spoken with calm conviction).
