Through day 1
Today has been a long hard day, i could barely get up this morning I'd vommited all night. But somehow and probably down to the amazing care, compassion and kindness of my new SR friends i have done it, no more day ones ever again.
I've had to do alot of soul searching and really face up to my addiction i have been extremely honest with my mam about it. I am going to go to counselling to try and deal with some of my issues. I know i still need to make and use more tools to keep me sober, but i will. Hour by hour, day by day. I'm going to go to work tomorrow which i feel so anxious about but know i have to face life.
I'm looking forward to day 2 of my sober journey and beginning to finally live.

Congratulations on getting through your final day one Tinkerbeau, we believe in you.
You mentioned counseling. I had a lot of emotional baggage that I had carried far beyond its expiration date. That was the first thing I tackled when I began my journey into this new life I'm currently enjoying.
From my experience there is nothing more important in the earliest days of sobriety than forgiveness. I believe forgiveness is absolutely paramount. I was still going through shakes and night sweats when I decided to forgive everybody in my life...and genuinely, honestly mean it. It was as if a boulder had been lifted from my soul and it gave me a jolt of confidence that I was finally getting on the right track.
Good luck in your journey.

Fantastic news!!!! Those first several days are beyond horrible, but many people get through it and you can too. Remember to eat well, drink lots of water and sleep as much as you can. It will make a difference. If you are craving alcohol, eat something and drink water, etc. It helps a lot. John
