I'll be darned
Well, I've been floating around doing these various jobs through this temp agency. Yesterday I had a second interview with this high brow consulting firm. Well, this morning they extended an offer. I start in 2 weeks. This could be good.
How does this relate to alcoholism, I was a reward drinker (among other things). I would probably drink all day today celebrating my newfound "success". But that was me in another life. I'm living my new revised sober life and its pretty darn good.

That is excellent news Thomas.
I agree it is as difficult not to reward oneself with drink when we have become accustomed to it. Or medicate or whatever .... our brains have become wired to associate those thoughts. Doesn't mean we can't rewire them though.
Congrats.

Good for you congrats. My theory is do the right thing the rest will follow . that being said 69 days ago I decided to be sober. I ha e been blessed with a new job I start this Monday. To celebrate I am going to get some meats to throw on the grill and reward myself. Better a food coma than a hangover lol.
In my case, I had pretty much reverse the direction of my actions, behaviours and thoughts.
It was a 180 degree turnaround.
It was also gradual and not immediate.
I am very happy for you with your new job and I wish you happiness and success with it.

Thank you all so much for the kind words. This is long overdue, but without this community I don't know where I would have ended up. I'm pretty sure it would not have been good. This community has helped keep me grounded, humbled and sober. From May 25, 2015 until now has been a rocky road, but being sober has helped me navigate the landmines and I have come out "ok".
For newcomers, people's journey to sobriety is like fingerprints, every one is unique and different. Stay on this site, and speak up. The people here will be there for you 24/7.
I would like to thank many people that have been instrumental in my journey, but won't for fear I forget someone. But I think most of you know who you are. Again, thank you. Jeff.
