hi Paulsandy, the place to find a sponsor is at a meeting. many meetings ask at the end for temporary sponsors to raise their hand, and any one of those would be good to connect with.
or you can attend a few meetings and listen, see who has “what you want” as far as a sober way of being in 5he world, and ask them if they would consider sponsoring you.
here is some reading material:

I don't know if you read that link posted above, but it talks about what a sponsor is. Here's the link again:

https://www.aa.org/assets/en_US/p-15_Q&AonSpon.pdf

This site you are on right now is not necessarily going to help you find a sponsor...we aren't all in AA, but like everyone is saying we are happy to help in any way we can if you have a particular issue that's bothering you.

There is a 12 Step subforum, maybe post in there, but a sponsor is someone who takes you through the Big Book of AA and how to work the 12 Steps. The book is available to read for free on AA's website.

Maybe read through the different steps in the 12 Step forum.

Click here for the 12 Step forum and at the top look at "Step Study."

There are many of us here in Sober Recovery
that are like sponsors in many ways because
we all share our own ESH - experiences, strengths
and hopes of what our lives were and are like,
before, during and after our addiction.

There are many who follow the AA program
of recovery and there are many who are using
other recovery program that are just as effective
as AA.

I myself was taught the AA program of recovery
some 28 yrs ago when I entered rehab. They taught
me about my own addiction to alcohol and its affects
me and those around me. They also taught me the
program of AA which consists of 12 steps which to
this day, use it as a guideline, incorporating it in
my everyday life to the best of my human ability.

It continues to work for me and countless other
members. What Ive also learned here in SR, is that
when folks become willing and openminded to
all programs available to us, we can learn from
them, apply them to our lives and remain sober
putting our addiction to rest each day we remain
sober.

Support, understanding, communication, all
work together so that we never have to go thru
recovery and daily life situations alone or by
ourselves.

Going to many open face meeting we hear
the voices of those sharing their own ESH
in person. Many need to see and hear those
folks. I know I did for many yrs, and of course
back in the day, there was no computers or
cell phones. So you drove to your meetings
and you opened your ears and listened and
learned something new each day to apply
to your own life.

Here in SR, we read and comprehend what
folks are saying about their own ESH and it
too can be an effective way to learn to remain
sober.

There is is much information online about
recovery where you can teach yourself or
like what you are doing now, asking for help.

You will recieve lots of helpful suggestions
guiding you along the way so that you can
learn how to achieve a successful recovery
life for yourself building a strong, solid foundation
to live upon for yrs to come.

You never have to be a lost soul stuck in
your addiction. All of us here have experience
addiction and recovery and have lots of ESH
to share with you.

I think of SR filled with many sponsors because
they are here as teachers, passing on their own
knowledge of what their lives were before,
during and after addiction.

Giving you all the hope possible that we
all can achieve sobriety using a continuous
program of recovery as a guideline in our
lives to achieve, health, happiness and honesty.

We are here for you.

Hi aasharon ,
Thank.you for all of your guidance .
I am.not in AA and can't go to as well .I have a debt to clear and busy busy in working.I want to.practice 12 steps as I know therw are plenty ideas to accept the life as it is.We addicted people really live in denial and in this situation we are postphoning our healing .1St of all we must accept the situation as it is.To accepr the life and avoid anger and recentment we have to clear our house which is really mentioned nicely in 12 steps .Therefore I want to try .Nobody knows which method does work you !!!
Anyway I am.learning from life and want to share my learning to others .
talk you soon
