Hello again all :)

Hey you lot. I know I haven't posted here in a long time.
some pretty ****** things happened which (of course) led from one to another to alcohol.
Which I have been abusing again sadly :/

I've made a conscious decision that I want to stop, sure I NEED to stop but I want to stop.
It's 6am and I'm already gagging for a drink.

That's the addiction telling me, hey Katie, you can't cope without me can you?! Just take me and then you can forget all your very problems right now, then you can have a little sleep and I'll be here for when you wake up too.

**** I can't live like this! So, I'm making a decision now that I am not going to drink anymore.

That's a tough one. Long term the plan is to quit altogether. I know I can't do moderation, I know I want to lose weight, I know that I can't afford alcohol.

So I'm gonna set myself mini targets to reach. Not in how many days sober as I don't that works for me because I'd find it easy to say "it won't take long to get back to 10 days or wgatever"

So first things first, I have to weigh myself and then set a mini goal there.
Money is a huge issue right now so half of every penny saved on alcohol goes towards paying off debts. The other half I want to buy myself something.
As for moderation, weeeel that's not going to be a goal because it can't be.

I think that's a start.

heya Katie. My recovery would have been just another well meaning, but failed plan- if I did not (and still do ) have daily support. First off- 3y oago, I found a good GP and had a total health check- especially for my major depression. Then a psychologist- to use CBT to change my thoughts and actions- to a limited extent my feelings. Also an addiction counsellor- meetings, both AA and SMART.
I also check in with SR daily- being a regular contributor to several threads.

Support to you.

Thanks Phoenix
Because I'm transgender I have to speak to a specialist anyway who has to make sure I'm basically sane and not making it up so that's always a good time to talk them about anything and that helps.

**I've managed one day so far and my head is pounding. Mock hangover from the withdrawal I suspect

Katie, have you tried a daily exercise routine? As money is an issue, a walking program would be ideal. Not knowing your current fitness level, start slowly. A 10 minute walk. Looks to lengthen the time & speed of the walk each week. You may find over the course of months you will be able to jog a minute hear & there with most of it walking. Start slow & look for improvement (longer duration, brisker walking speed). IMPORTANT - sustainability, consistency is key not how difficult it is.
