Comment About the Forum
I've only been here for a few weeks, and this is the first thread I've started. It actually took me a while to figure out how to do it. All I wanted to do was mention what a joyful place this is. I've been in other forums dealing with other topics that are often too toxic to warrant such a comment.
It's odd that I find myself here. With so many years of sobriety under my belt, I haven't been to meetings, or even thought about my alcoholism much. I do hang out with a couple of other recovering alcoholics, but not because of our shared experience with drinking. They are just people I happen to click with. We seldom talk about our past drinking experiences.
I enjoy reading the success stories and identify with them with a vicarious joy. I worry about those who are beginning the struggle, and I hope for them, while realizing that statistically some of them won't make it. This is sad because I know they have the power they need, but are trying to figure out how to jump the first big hurdle. I know this forum is a place that can help them with kindness and understanding and greatly improve their chances of success.
I just wanted to thank everyone for making this place so comfortable and pleasant for those trying to find their way, and for me too.

It’s nice to have you say so, DriGuy. I love it here, too. I’ve got five years’ sober, and I don’t use it so much for sobriety support as I do for good fellowship and life support!
SR is a place of building up. It’s a joy to be associated with it!

You are a great contribution to these forums Driguy. I know how much I enjoy your input in your posts. I also agree that this is a great place to come for answers on recovery. From those that have been there and done that.
Thanks for your post DriGuy. It's very inspiring reading posts by people who have so much sobriety under their belt.
I agree with what has been posted, SR is a great, friendly, forum. Out of interest, how long have these forums been online? I can vaguely remember discovering the board around spring 2010 but then somehow losing the url. I think it was 2013 before I found this site again and I've been lurking (and now posting) ever since.
