Hello! I've used a combination of a lot of things. I used SR a LOT in the beginning. You can see all of my posts back to about 2008 on here. I made some good friends through this community that I kept in touch with both here and offline, that was really helpful to me when I had early days when I was struggling. I used tools here and there from AA and SMART, but probably the biggest help for me was getting a therapist who was an addiction specialist. I worked with her for about two years, seeing her weekly in the beginning, but she really helped me find the patterns in my thinking and behavior that were causing me to drink in the first place. Before seeing her I really just thought I liked to drink and that was the end of the story. She eventually left her practice, but I found another therapist and I still see her to this day. I don't know what I would do without therapy.

I've also noticed that what helps me the most changes over time based on life circumstances and whatever challenges I'm having at any given time, so I try to be really flexible and listen to myself about what I need at each point in recovery.

I hope that's helpful!
