Back from 28 day rehab
Back from 28 day rehab
And it was wonderful and life changing. Amazing groups and counseling, yoga, art, running trails, meetings, lectures from 7 am to 9 pm. If I didn't have a family, I would have stayed another month.
I should have done this years ago. If you have the resources of money and time, it is might be worth it for you. It was for me.
Glad to be back.

So many are terrified of inpatient rehab. It changed my life. Although not an experience that I'd care to repeat, it was a good thing and I'm SO glad I did it.
I will be an echo to several people above....what is your sobriety plan?

We used to have a governement funded treatment program at a hospital in the mountains. Coincidentally, it was eight weeks long, but they never told the patients about cloud nine week. It was an intense experience which had a huge effect on people and they came out floating about a foot off the ground for about a week, then reality kicked in. Those who had not stuck to the follow up suggestions, and even some that did, often fell by the wayside at this point.
I don't know the statistical success of your rehab, but one of the best I ever heard of had an independently reported rate of 52% after 12 months. You see the point, nearly half did not stay sober.
This is just to undeline the point that Mindfulman made above about a sobriety plan. It is natural, if you go to hospital, to expect you would come out cured. It applies in a lot of cases, but not alcoholism. One would hope your rehab gave you some advice on what to do to remain sober, to lock in the gains you have made. If you are anything like me, you are going to need that plan.

Congrats - how times FLIES, I remember your post just before you went in. In response to my question as to what is going to be different this time around for you, you wrote:
"What I am doing differently is deciding to take 28 days for an intensive inpatient program, away from my family, and then developing a solid plan based on what I learned from the program to move forward with IOP and AA."
Just a kind reminder. Welcome home. Time to get to work.
