8 weeks

How time flies. I have not had any urges to drink and don't think about it. My situation is much the same, living alone and despite feeling quite isolated the thought of drinking is not an attractive proposition. I know exactly how it would make me feel.

Started looking at dating sites!! That is quite daunting, reading the profiles it seems many middle aged women are seeking serious relationships from outset. I am more inclined to friends with benefits.

Well done in the time.

I was definitely one who had no business looking for a dalliance or look after someone's emotions at that point. I did take a slow risk at 5 mo with my now husband- who was also my high school boyfriend and someone I knew had loved me since I was 15. Even then, as he was in early rcovery too and we had 25 years of reconnecting to do, and getting to know each other's grown up selves, we took time.

I had no business with a friends with benefits situation. That was common in my thirties.

Good going on your 8 weeks, Gerard! With regard to the women, there's some truth in what you say but also exceptions to every rule. I've always thought of getting along with people socially as an ongoing negotiation in some sense, but also one of the more interesting games around.

Great job Gerard.

I can't really relate to wanting to date/have sex in early abstinence. I had a lot on my plate and didn't think bringing in any potential drama was a good idea.

I think the dating site can make a difference. Some are more 'geared' for hook ups. Some are more geared for relationships.
