7 days! Feeling...exhausted.

I’m so proud of myself. I made it through the weekend and I have a plan. I have support. I have a nice new routine and am reading books. I’m prepared to reach out when I need to and surf the cravings etc etc etc.

I’m just so tired. I keep falling asleep every time I sit down. Not to mention my digestion is horribly off. How long does it generally take for things to improve physically? I’m trying to go easy on myself but it’s tough when I need to get up in the morning and just cannot make it happen. It isn’t depression, i’m Just physically exhausted.

Hi and welcome Prettiekittie!

Congratulations on making it through a full week sober! And on having a plan and everything, that sounds really great!

I think it's hard to say how long these things take, it differs a lot from person to person. If I remember correctly my energy got better after about 1 week and then again noticeably after a month or so.

Another thing that can cause the fatigue (and did it in my case) was a lack of vitamins and nutrients. Alcohol can cause malabsorption of certain nutrients, so if the tiredness lasts I would recommend speaking to your doctor and maybe getting your blood work checked.

Welcome to the family. It takes a while to get back to normal. Give it time. I started feeling much better after a month sober.

welcome prettiekittie

As drinkers, I think we beat our minds and bodies around more than we even realise....it takes a little while for that repair and rejuvenation to kick in..but it will
