In every case, I think all we can do is to post our best advice, based on our experience, and detach from the outcome. If everyone automatically accepted advice from internet strangers (you or anyone else), we may not be better off. If no one accepted advice (which is more common here, to be honest...this is about sobriety and recovery, and if we took sound advice the first time, we may all be better off!) we would learn lessons in other ways. You're probably an expert, and I get it, I'm an expert in a certain field and people often make assumptions that I know to be false. But you can only control one side of communication...yours...how you present it, not how others receive it. I hope you keep posting.

I'm really out - but I've followed this site - helped me get sober.

But - I usually lurk, but decided to post - you are all getting into legal trouble. That is why I posted.

Say your experience - if you don't know HIPAA - don't give advice. If you don't know tenant law - don't give advice - some of yours advice could have gotten her thousands in legal fees and jail time.

It's getting reckless.

Are you asserting that if random poster A gives xyz advice to random poster B, and xyz advice is incorrect, that random poster B has a potential lawsuit against random poster A if he or she took random poster A's advice?

No it's that the person who took the advice may be at risk. Far as I can tell. Which is certainly possible.

For sure. I just wasn't clear on the "you're all getting into legal trouble" part.

I think we're recycling the arguments now.

I agree taking legal advice from this site would be silly, but I've never heard of that happening in my 11 years here.

Like I said people are far more ready to consult a lawyer than a doctor

We're done here.
I hope you'll decide to post again one day Beanbag
