How to give 'advice' effectively
I thought this was a good read.
https://tinybuddha.com/blog/10-tips-...ctually-helps/
I hope that actually translates as a link that will open. If it doesn't can someone fix it for me? Duhhhh. Sorry
And I think those in AA know how effective it is to share in the 'I'. Not the 'you', 'we', 'us' 'them'.
I find when I read someone saying 'I've been there. Here's what I did' I am far more receptive. I also feel like posts shared in the 'I' give me a choice. I'm not being told what to do, I'm being asked 'does this mean anything to you'. I'm being invited to consider the post. As opposed to being beaten over the head.
I make mistakes all the time and have to watch posting stuff that is too 'advice-y'. I'm sure I've done it many times. But I do make an effort to post my experience as at least part of the post. If I have no experience with the post, why would I respond in the first place?

Great post Frickaflip! I am learning a lot of Buddhist teachings here at rehab and it is always spot on and in your heart you know it is right, true and honest. Thanks for the link xx
