47 days sober, slow process

I have been sober 47 days from years of daily heavy drinking, not eating much food.

My recovery is coming along, day by day starting to feel a little better daily.

How long did it take you to feel much better, physically, mentally, emotionally after stopped drinking?

Great job Springforward 47 Days is amazing!
I think it really depends on the person. My last relapse I had anxiety, insomnia and depression for weeks. I know for me exercise helped but I have heard that typically alcohol will remain in your system for around 30 days. It’s a process and progress not perfection. I’ve found that what I put into it I get out of it. Are you attending meetings and are you working the steps?

Hi Spring,

I'm on day 60 today, but have been feeling much better since around 40ish days.
Somehow everything appears to be sharper, more noticeable. Sleep patterns are now almost back to normal, but I'm quite a light sleeper anyway and always have been. Alcohol used to make me hyperactive, I know this, as people close to me have mentioned it.
So physically, all's good. Mentally, I'm in a better place. Emotionally I'm probably still quite fragile and anxious, but then I realise 60 days is hardly anything when compared to the vast time of drinking.

Hope this helps & many congrats on 47 !!
Best Regards,
Johnnie.

I started feeling better between 3 and 6 months sober. What helped me a lot was practicing gratitude every day as part of my recovery.

It took me about 6 moths to start to feel better, around 13 months and I was really feeling better.
