Life changes, challenges and rewards
I have not started a thread in quite some time but am on this site every day and thankful for it. For those who know my story I had some pretty dire months in 2015-2016. Had to sell my company, and heal my injuries. What's my point you might be asking. Well, life can be interesting. I did what I thought was the right thing and chose another career (real estate) and put forth my best effort, but in all honesty I was struggling. The market conditions in this state are tough. Out of the blue 2 weeks ago I was put in touch with a young guy who has a landscape company. He specializes in block work and commercial stuff. I had a landscape company so I am familiar with most everything. This kid likes working on the job and doesn't have time to do the sales, consulting with customers, administration, etc...Those are the things I actually liked doing. Long story short he took me on as a sales/consultant for his company and I love it. Its kind of a fraternity of sorts for those of us in the industry. I got back to seeing my old suppliers, vendors and store owners, and to a man they were all excited to see me, as I was them. And to make things even better, I'm actually earning a paycheck again. I trudged along since 2015 hoping something good would happen, and it finally has. I also honestly believe that sobriety has played a hand in this. I was prepared for the challenge and not drinking or hungover. That's my story for today.
