Hey Everyone-
I've been drowning in a sea of not believing I needed this help, but I do. I can feel life slipping through my hands. I could make so many excuses for where I am now- the truth is, I've watched it all happen and could've acted to stop the slide long ago. So, what now?

Hi and welcome. First I would suggest spending a lot of time reading posts on this forum, it is a treasure trove of information. You are wise to try and get a grip on this before you do actually lose everything, because it happens.

Im with Bug and Thomas - there's a book section too directing you to some excellent reads.
I too try and nip in here most days - helps to keep me ticking along.
Makes me smile at times too which is a bonus if you're struggling.
Good luck

Welcome Trytorun! I echo the advice of the other posters. I, too, am on SR everyday. Read through the posts and forums. Lots of encouragement and help on SR. Post if you feel like it. Be sure to post if you're in danger of slipping. Someone (or lots of someones) will be around to help. You're not alone. Good for you in posting. Is this your first day?

Welcome! I started here, lurking for a couple of years. I read everything, I saw what other people were doing for their sobriety....how they got it, how they maintained it. I picked up little bits and formed my recovery plan and went from there.

Getting sober is hard work at first. However, the rewards make the effort extremely worthwhile. Good luck!

Me too

Just joined today too , 3 days in and my 3rd try in 2 years , needing to believe I can do it permanently this time. Managed 4 months before and felt so great LFT started to improve, more energy, motivation and weight all got better, even went on some dates. I know its got to be forever for me but such a scary prospect.

Drink plenty of water, distract yourself, play a game, take a bath. I binged on Netflix because I couldn't concentrate on a book. I found Chamomile tea or Sleepytime tea took away some of the anxiety. Continue to read the posts and threads (It helps). We're here with you.

Hi everyone, I'm starting to feel human again. The poor sleep isn't fun, but it can only get better. I'm going to use this early morning time to go get some exercise. I'm feeling positive in the realization that this is under my control. I don't ever have to be in this position again. Now's the time to put together a better plan for self-care, so I don't end up here again. Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning Trytorun. Thanks and well done for joining SR - it's a wonderful site and the people on here will certainly support you with good advice on your plans, should you request their help. It's wonderful to hear you say "putting together a better plan for self-care". That's your first great step. Right there x
