Alcoholic
Hi,
12 days using Antabuse and today is Easter. I feel like a drink but have read articles over and over again about affects with Antabuse in system.
I’m in 100mg for another 2 days then dosage is increased to 200mg.
It’s very difficult to get rid of the urge to drink
Bobby

The urges will become less and less given time.
It’s your addictive/alcoholic voice AV that is trying to talk you in to drinking.
Try to learn when your AV is trying to lead you astray & put a road block there for the next time it tries to lead you down that road.
The aim is to block all the roads off leading to drinking booze.
The urges won’t last forever.
Urge surfing is a good technique.
Stay strong
Best wishes

I had two goes on anatbuse. The first, it was my only defence against taling the fatal first drink. That and white knuckling, kept me sober I guess for two or three months, but I was miserable.
The second was a year or so later where I took it for three months as a back up to the AA program I had adopted. I never drank again, and never had any particular urges once I started on the work. I have the feeling that AA alone would have worked fine, but it was not a silly idea to have the extra insurance for short term protection.
Don't drink on it. It is very unpleasant.

My experience was similar to Mike's.
Antabuse was ultimately a good- albeit just one of- tool in my serious decision to quit for good.
Keep going- it's early days and so much lies ahead for you to look forward to if you use everything available to stay sober.
Best to you.

Agree with what everyone else said. The cravings do subside with sober time. Holidays are tough as we are usually around normies drinking like normies can, except we can't and it sucks sometimes, but nothing worth having comes easy.
I hate to tell people to have patience (because I have) none lol...but essentallt that is what we need to practice. Peace and patience to you 😎😎

hey bobby....welcome. antabuse will not fix or resolve the cravings....it will however make you very very sick if you do drink. so it's a deterrent. sober is a frame of mind.....remember sober is a GOOD thing. and i'm glad you are making that choice!
To strengthen my sobriety and reduce cravings, I practiced gratitude. (still do) It really changed my attitude and showed me what I had to lose if I drank again. Gratitude can make you happier too.

welcome, Bobby,
great you're giving yourself this chance.
Antabuse is not meant to be the only "tool", most of us need to make changes in our routines, other actions, many in our social circles, and, not least of all, perspective.
with change in perspective, lots of different approaches can help. Hope you will read around on the forums and see what you think and what you are willing to do.
right now, you get to experience that urges do not need to result in drinking.
cool, huh?
