Sink or swim ?

I so badly want to swim. I cannot continue in this way any longer. I have too much to lose.
Please send me kind thoughts as I now take that very deep breath and head in to my future.

Thank you Joan. I have been too weak for far to long. I dont want this life of shame, hiding, lying anymore. Its too exhausting and I am really starting to feel and look bad. Thats just my side. I have others to consider and I have been selfish (which is part of all this addiction I know) and childishly sly and petulant for too long now.

Hi, Cuckoo.
For me, accepting that I could not drink like other people was key.
My way forward became clear once I did that.
Good luck.

Thank you Maudcat
I am starting to realise that acceptance is key to starting the process.
I cant live in my ugly world any more.

Anvilhead....I am coming around to that idea. Life is so much less complicated when the booze is gone. I have read that a thousand times on SR.

To continue with the swimming analogy...

What are you doing to learn to swim? Just jump in and splash about? Have you tried to swim before? What worked? What didn't?

Are you going to get involved with a structure program of swimming? Face-to-face swimming support? where someone can show you how live and love the swimming life, and how you can cope with the struggle of not swimming.

I am putting my self first and being kind to me for starters. I am not going down the stress/worry road. I just want peace and calm for a few days while I figure all this out.
I hope that doesnt sound lame....its all I can think about for now.....
