120 days
If my math is correct, it's 120 days today for me.
This site has been a tremendous help to me. I learned about the role the AV plays in cravings, urge surfing, and most important - the recovery plan.
I still have a thought or two about having a glass of wine, but instead of giving in I think it through. "Is it really going to be 1? If you have 1, will you feel satisfied? What's the point of 1?"
I think it's important for everyone new to know that quitting drinking does not fix everything by itself. Life does not get magically better, but as Pope Francis said:
We can and should ask the Lord for life, health, happiness, he said, but always “in the awareness that God is able to bring life even from death” and that we can experience “peace even in disease, serenity even in solitude, (and) bliss even in tears.”
The journey may not be easy, but you're not alone and you can become a person that you are proud of.
