Day 1
Day 1
Well this is the first full day of a long term commitment to an alcohol free life. Hubs and I poured it all down the drain last night together, with my mom's support. Feeling pretty tired and frightened, but strongly committed.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Please keep asking for help, you have made a tremendous start, and with help, we all can attain daily sobriety.
PS, I love your Squirrel picture in your ID. My wife and I adopted squirrels as our "pet" because they stay in the trees, and come out and play and we just watch. We don't buy food, kitty litter, doggie treats, fish food, or clean up after them. In fact we have named our "pet" "Mr. Squirrel" Just for fun!
Seriously, keep it simple, try to find a sponsor, go to meetings, and pray to your God of your understanding. If you don't have one yet, you can borrow your sponsors! Listen to AA tapes/cd's, read the literature, thank God you did not drink each day. Believe it or not, with 27-1/2 yrs of sobriety I still do it "one day at a time". Keep it up. Congrats on your decision. It can be done. More than a couple of us are living proof!

Welcome to SR, Sobertaurus; really glad that you joined us.
You will find an abundance of support, encouragement and understanding here. Early days can be a bit tricky but they are well worth the effort.
How very wonderful that you and your husband are on this journey together.
Buckle your seat belts; the Sober Life rocks.

So happy to read of your and your husband's joint commitment. How wonderful you are doing this together!
I'm only 18 days in after quitting alcohol, so am not in the position to give advice... other than don't fall in the trap of thinking in the future you can "just have one drink". I've been there too many times after having quit previously, and it's never just one drink.
I know you both can do it!
