Day 3.

I think I am fully detoxed as far as physically. I went 3 days last week and had terrible withdrawal symptoms so drank beer on the weekend. Stopped again on Sunday about 4am. This 3 day stretch has been much easier. Looks like I unwittingly tapered myself down over the last 2 weeks. It was hell though. I have probably only slept every 3 days in that time span.

Now that I can function without needing a beer first, I can start prioritizing. For the past 3 months, 'beer' was always the first priority before anything else. Today, first priority is eat breakfast and shower. Sounds simple but I easily could go a week without doing this. Baby steps....

Simple is wonderful. Take a bunker mentality for a bit. For us at this stage making sure we do the basics is a huge thing. No matter what else we do, let's not drink.

Also, just a tip that I'm working on too, maybe try to just not say negative things to yourself. I mean, no matter our past there's worse. We're human. Need to give ourselves a break.

Do you have a big book? Maybe try to find a meeting in walking distance? Even if it's a long walk? I've realized over the last few days how much I missed walking - as much as it's been a pain at times.

Have a good day.

Hi Buckley, sounds like things are on a good track. It's nice to be able to think more clearly and prioritize/plan in a way that puts our wellness first instead of where the next drink will come from. At least that's how I feel, here on day 6. Have a great day!

That's great WL. You're very lucky. I hope you pursue some kind of support as well....you know, outside of SD!

I will be going back to AA. I am greatly sleep-deprived at the moment. Need a good sleep, a haircut/shave, and some new clothes. I may be a drunk, but I don't have to look like one! When drinking, I don't care how I look. Sober, I try to have some semblance of dignity.

Sounding good! You aren’t a drunk if you don’t drink and you have that up three days ago.

I just resigned myself that it may take a few days before I sleep like a normal human.

You got dis.
