Rehab next monday
I worked my time in rehab real hard. Nearly everyone but a small handful had been to rehab several times before. I was intent on making my trip my only one.
I found out a lot about myself there. Work it and you will, too.
Look forward to hearing how it goes. 6 months is a long time, you doing Salvation Army's program? I know they do 6 month programs.

I will echo what others have said here - work hard in there.
It sounds like a fantastic opportunity to finally extinguish this addiction.
I would love to hear about your experience as I have thought about rehab recently as well.
Good luck!

Considering I just finished an inpatient rehab a week ago, I feel I'm an expert on the matter. My experience was great. The place I picked was very supportive and a terrific fit for me. It gave me a reprieve from being around alcohol and let me concentrate on getting dried out and focusing on me/sobriety. That was the key over the outpatient I had tried before. It was co-ed and everyone was a giant family. It was AA and dual diagnosis based. We didn't have access to cell phones/computer/internet, but there was a small gym, a giant TV we shared during free time, plenty of games, etc. The food was AMAZING and we had about 12 hour days of AA/therapy. Also had meditation, yoga, music therapy. Family days were every Sunday and we had several alumni interactions where former residents came and interacted/talked with us. It was a very positive experience and I will definitely use the tools I gained going forward in my sobriety.

If you have the financial means, I'd say go for it. You have nothing to lose. I would gladly tell you in a PM where I went.
