Did you avoid tv & movies at first?
I feel like I am avoiding any tv show or movie lately. I think partially because that’s when I would feel comfortable to start my binge each night but I also think it’s because alcohol is protested so often and I don’t want any temptation.
To a degree but I still watched series on netflix. The issue with me was focus, I'd lose track of what was going on plot wise and just get bored.
I play a lot of video games to keep my mind off of things

I'm enjoyed binge watching Stranger Things.
I used to binge watch lots of shows. Can't remember most of them, and would get lost because I forgot what I'd watched last week.
Need to rewatch the last season of Sense8 before the movie comes out.

No - Not for alcohol addiction, but I relate entirely.
When my son dies I didn't watch TV for months. I had to manage all 'input' so carefully because I was so exceptionally delicate. Any poorly advised 'input' could have set me off on a self destructive course of action at any moment. I had to stop myself being triggered into hurting myself permanently.
So I relate 100%
If you think TV or films could trigger you then you have your own answer. You really don;t need ours as I didn't need any counselling to come to my decision around the same thing nearly 10 years ago.

I didn't avoid TV, but I became more aware of all the alcohol commercials.
Have you ever noticed that most people on TV don't finish their drinks? They order a beverage, it arrives, they take a small sip, someone talks to them, then they put it down and walk away.
I rarely see this behavior in real life. Even most of the normies I know finish their drinks.
