I have been through some hard times since I stopped drinking, but nothing as hard and as tragic as the loss you have experienced.

I understand completely when you say that drinking is not an option. I know if I had drunk as a way to cope with the pain I was going through, I would never have stopped.
There would never have been enough drink available in the world to ever ease the pain.

I feel so profoundly sad for you but at the same time profoundly proud of you.
