Trying to become a new person...
My name is Steve. I haven't had any alcohol since Friday night. It was a wake call for me that I need to make changes. I've had long periods of sobriety before but have also had periods of alcohol abuse. I've decided that it ends today. I know countless people have to these forms and said the same thing and I know the struggle of maintaining complete sobriety. I used this same forum in 2012 and with the support of people here I stayed 100% sober for almost 11 months before slowly getting back away from the healthy decisions I had been making. Alcohol has gotten me in trouble in the past. Luckily nobody has been hurt physically or emotionally except me being extremely disappointed and slightly depressed for a period of time. But I just wanted to say hi to everyone and declare my intentions to be a better person for myself and those around me from this point forward. For my health and well being.
Thanks, Steve. 09-10-17

ramius- welcome back. I would see you more as trying to be a better person, not a new one. You have the strength- you said that. You posted here- which takes honesty, a desire to be seen as accountable and courage- to open up to a global community. Well done. Keep posting.
It's so good to have you back with us, Steve.
I had to come to the same conclusion - that each time I allowed alcohol in my system, unpredictable things happened. I never knew where it was going to lead me. I was being reckless & putting myself in danger. After a brief period of feeling sorry for myself, I am so happy to be free of it. You will be too.
