If we take meds as prescribed they are wonderful things.
It's good that your doctor A) knows your history & B) can trust you .
I found it helpful that my doctor is in Recovery...for over 40 years. He has helped me immeasurably.
I am prescribed a low dose of Xanax (.5) that I take as needed. As long as it's taken as prescribed, it's ok. When doses are messed with or people begin to Dr. Shop for add'l scripts it becomes problematic. There is software in my state where your name is tracked for meds. if the pharmacist decides to check.
Cough syrup both over the counter and prescription strength are abused as well. Certainly cold meds are used to make meth. That's regulated now in the US.
I'm so thankful I never got hooked on anything other than alcohol.

Anyone wondering about a certain drug or treatment really needs to see their Dr.
