6 days now I quit drinking

And I feel like tired, exhausted, and sometimes, a headache and other side effect. I was not drinking that much, but too much I guess, so I stop.

Welcome and congratulations on 6 days of sobriety. Those symptoms sound pretty normal for early recovery, but if you're concerned, you could talk to your dr. I hope you continue to read and post.

Yep.. Tiredness and light headaches for the first few weeks to a month.

It dissipated within a month. Although I still get sleepy late in the day sometimes. But it could just be me getting old :-)

Great going on 6 days!

Remember, not too long ago alcohol was used to anesthesize us before a medical procedure.

Our bodies were slammed with a routine which included alcohol. Over a period of time, the cells want that stuff and learn to rely on it, no matter how much, we still drank on some kind of schedule....

Our bodies need more time to unlearn this process than it did to learn the process. We sober up and realize how much we really numbed ourselves!

Give time time. Heal. Learn to eat well, exercise, balance life sober, start with not drinking and one day after the next we unlearn what was not beneficial to us and we learn to live sober.

Congratulations on 6 days!!!!!! YOU are a miracle!! Most of us die drunk or in some related accident.

Keep moving forward!!! You got this!

Hi Destinos.

I had all those feelings and more - I agree that it's normal. We beat ourselves up rather badly - we need time to heal. Wonderful that you have 6 sober days. Be proud! Very glad you joined us.

Hello and welcome.
I've found that it's not how much we drink, but how it effects us.
Congratulation's on quitting and having six days under your belt.
A little time will take care of your discomfort. so hang in there.
