Making it work, almost 2 weeks
Making it work, almost 2 weeks
Tonight I looked in the mirror, and was startled.. to see bright, white eyes. I hadn't realized how bloodshot and bleary my eyes had become! It's only been about two weeks, but already I'm seeing physical improvement. Getting to sleep is still hard, but mornings are incredible. What a gift, to wake up actually feeling good, with no regrets. The few times I've smelled alcohol, it almost made me ill.
I still have cravings, but I am not feeling as "deprived" as I've felt in the past. This time, it seems more like "choosing" to be a non-drinker, to be excited about a new chapter.
I've been reading here daily, but not posting much. I don't feel worthy of giving much advice yet! But I am grateful for this community and wanted to post an update.. that I'm still hanging in there.
Thank you all.

I started getting good sleep about 2 week in. Start exercising now even if its just a little. Your physical recovery will be must faster from the increased blood flow. Nicely done on two weeks. They weren't much fun but every day gets easier after the first 3 or 4 days of sobriety.
Congrats on your sober time! I too noticed a wonderful change in my appearance after I'd been sober for a while. And now, seven years out, I'm told I look younger than my years. Always nice to hear that at age 65.
