New to Site and finding my way around

Hi there

I just wanted to introduce myself. Having maintained sobriety for 6 months after many attempts both by myself and with professionals, I recently relapsed and an now going through home detox. Not easy but working hard at putting everything in place this time around that I didn't commit to when sober so that hopefully, maintain sobriety after this detox. Feeling ashamed and guilty but trying to focus on the positives that I achieved in getting sober first time around and the lessons I learned. Nice to have a place to share and talk to those who understand. Thanks for reading.

Hi there!!

Welcome!!
Happy you found us.
We are all a big family here and we all understand what you are going through.

A few pointers

1. There is nothing we have not seen before.

2. There is nothing we have not heard before.

3. You are welcome 24/7 here.

4. I understand the guilt and shame and while I cannot say 'get over it' because I it is hard, you will not feel like this forever. Every day without a drink is a day away from the feelings you have now.

I wish you the best xx

Hi Mazzy! Welcome to SR! Tell yourself that you will take responsibility for your relapse and accept the consequences for your actions, whatever they might be, and then take the guilt and shame and flush it down the toilet. They do you no good! Your obligation is simply to accept consequences, which you are doing, so no need for the guilt. Be proud of your 6 months. Now you know that you can beat this! Make a plan, execute the plan, and get on with living without the booze. Good luck to you!

Welcome, Mazzy! Sounds like you are doing the right thing by focusing on your sobriety. We can learn from the past by thinking about what got us there and planning for the future. Best to you!
