Day 6 and still feeling terrible

I wake up every day still feeling like I have been hit by a truck. I have no motivation to do anything. Except for one friend and my sponsor my life is empty. Maybe it's just my bipolar. I have a lot of shame and guilt. I feel like my whole body is aching. My liver enzymes are still up so maybe that's the cause. Please tell me it gets better.

I hope you start feeling better soon. I felt unmotivated, too, but I made a list and promised myself to cross off 2 or 3 items each day. Sometimes, it was just doing laundry and cooking dinner, but it was something. Try to focus on something positive that you can do each day. I assume you've been checked out by your dr?

I felt pretty bad for my first week. The thing to remember is this is not as good as it gets - it will get better Sweetichick.

If you think you need to see a Dr about your liver enzymes or bipolar, or anything else, make the appointment

It gets better. And follow Anna's suggestion to finish a few tasks each day. It's nice to feel a sense of accomplishment.

Yes, it gets better. It truly does.
Life is meant to be lived. I assure you if you keep walking in the right direction, you will live a healthy, productive, clean and fruitful life. You will feel better. Perhaps it is your Bi-polar? Are you taking medications regularly? Also, it takes a bit for our bodies to adjust. Serotonin levels could be off or a bit.
Do you have an appointment with your physician?

I think alcohol stops the meds working properly. It may take a couple of weeks to normalise again. I feel better just having talked about it.

It does get better. Your body, including your biochemistry and central nervous system, will take time to adjust. When actively drinking and in such amounts that we alcoholics do, we have done a lot of damage to our bodies over a good deal of time. So it will therefore take time for things to recover.

Sweetichick,
It DOES get better, so much better, unbelievably better!!!

You have to push yourself through the hard part, make sobriety your goal, make it the most important part of your life. Do whatever it takes, and you will enjoy the benefits down the road. It isn't easy, but SO WORTH IT!

Just passed the 2 1/2 year milestone, and I love being alcohol free!!!

Good luck, push through! You can do this!

It does get better. You're barely thru withdrawal. Give yourself more sober time and if you still don't feel better, see your doctor.

Hi Sweetichick, I felt pretty rough for my first 2 weeks. It does get better! For a while around day 55-60, I also felt pretty tired most of the time, but better than days 1-14.
