6 months then relapse.

I made it to 6 months on the 21st, but relapsed last night. I'm making this thread to remind others to use the tools at your disposal to stay sober. If you are an alcoholic like me one drink and you don't know where you'll end up. Thank God I only hurt myself this time.

Call someone and talk if you're having a ****** day. Go to your support groups. Don't think you can do it alone. These are the mistakes I made yesterday.

Well done on six months. That's a huge accomplishment. Take what you've learned along the way and tweak it so that the next time you have a crap day, you realize that drinking isn't going to make it better.

There were so many times that I swore and gritted my teeth and paced the floor and said the serenity prayer, just to get through a bad day without drinking. Especially in the three to six month range of sobriety. Those were my hardest times.

You can do it. Make the plan stronger than "just abstinence." Come here and post and ask permission to drink BEFORE drinking. People here will tell you pretty quickly that it won't work.

Six months of sobriety is a great start.

I'm glad you see that you can add some things to your recovery tools, so that this doesn't happen again.

You relapsed last night and today you are on this site using that relapse as a warning to others. To me, that shows strength, compassion and wisdom. Qualities that will serve you well as you continue your journey. Today has not been a good day and your post was exactly what I needed to read. Thank you.

Thank you Judicator for sharing and reminding us all. It could've been me writing your post a day ago. I only didn't relapse cause there was nothing to drink and I couldn't get any. But I feel like my sobriety isn't that stable at the moment and I need to use all of my tools again. I thought for the last 6 months AA wasn't for me and I didn't need a program or support group but I think differently now.

Stay strong!

I attend AA meetings every day and an intensive outpatient program at my local mental health clinic. I am working through the steps and the big book of AA with a sponsor.
