I forgot how to LOL

Now I am sober I realise that I rarely laugh out loud. I was very amused by some funny thing on the TV yesterday and my husband looked at me as if I was crazy. I have decided to start watching more comedy and who better than Billy Connolly to get the ball rolling. Who or what makes you laugh?

Billy Connolly is great! I'm not too much into comedy, but I always love a good stand up routine by Robin Williams, may he rest in peace.

Some sit-coms I like are Blackadder, Father Ted, Alan Partridge and the Simpsons. I was listening to an AA talk by Anthony Hopkins at work today through headphones and laughed out loud at one of his jokes - embarrassing!

What makes me laugh out loud is my dog Billie when she's barking at the wastebasket. She pushes it around with her nose and barks at it and really gets into it.

My dogs and cats amuse me every day.

Good thread!

Yea, early sobriety didn't yield a bunch of haaaaaa's. I could not agree more that it's important to find a way to laugh. On occasion I watch some old Jonny Carson classics on YouTube - funny stuff!!

Fawlty Towers / John Cleese !

Blooper shows are good as others laughter becomes infectious.

Reminded me of this

I actually was at the one in Austin, Texas. I am in Houston. Btw, his show on Comedy Central was pure genius.

I make it a point to listen to stand up comedy every night before I fall asleep. Youtube ap, put the light on lowest setting (youre just listening). And enjoy.

Im a personal fan of:
Norm MacDonald
Bill Burr
Jim Gaffigan (clean)
Brian Regan (clean)
Jim Jeffries
Louis CK
Ricky Gervais
Sebastien Monoscalo
Doug Stanhope
Dave Chapelle
Bill Hicks
George Carlin
Mike Berbiglia

Basucally all of the above names have a 1 hour show. It might take several nights to get through the shows, but it is a great way to "escape" before you go to sleep.

Thanks for posting the clips, they are hilarious!
I have heard of quite a few of the comedians mentioned and will have a look for the others. I love Richard Prior, his comedy was very like Billy Connolly, great to listen to buy even funnier when you can see the silly walks and facial expressions. The late Dave Allen is a favourite of mine. I will try to post a clip I have seen many times but still has the same effect yrs later..... trying to explain telling the time to a young child.
