Lightbulb I had a dream...

I come home and there’s a giant in my house; he’s sprawled over the 4 large corner-group leaving hardly any space at all not covered with his huge, fat, bulk. He turns as I walk in and says with a smile, “You, need a drink!”.

I explain I don’t drink and ask him what he’s doing in my house, he says, “I live here, have a drink!”, slurring his words a bit as he’s obviously intoxicated. I again explain I can’t drink any more, it would destroy my life and me, I ask him to leave. He places his giant hand around my son’s neck and forces a drink into my hand with a vice-like grip, looks at me with steely eyes and says, “Drink now, or I’ll hurt you, I’ll hurt your family”. My eyes fill with tears and I drink the proffered drink which instantly makes me drunk.

Suddenly the giant is all affable again, providing more drinks and joking with me as we watch some rubbish on TV but I notice around me the room is changing; there are areas of bare plaster on the walls, the floor is covered in dirt, it’s like the house is a ruin.

Just as I wake up I realise there’s nobody else in the house: the giant was me.

I’ve been debating whether or not to document that for at least a few a days but it’s been nagging at me to catch it before it slipped away. Maybe I can rent out my subconscious to write one-act plays.

Be careful not to give that guy too much power, even subconsciously...it has no arms and legs but yours Unwound.

It needs your cooperation to get what it wants.

You can shut it down with a single word - NO

What a dream. If we all dreamt like that, Freud would never have made a name for himself. Nothing to pick apart - it's all as obvious as you could ask for.

Apart from the warning Dee gave you, I would add that your inner consciousness is doing its darnedest to draw your attention to the consequences of picking up, just in case you had any doubts.

Have you had any luck bringing forward that appointment to see a counsellor?

Dreams are intense for me. All I know is not to accept the emotions in them as a real indicator of me. Dreams are just that- they cannot hurt me.
