Libido

Just going to throw this one out there.

I'm 34, for the past 4 years I suppose I've been struggling with a complete loss of libido. I've been to the Drs, I'm healthy and have above average testosterone levels.

The more reading I do on the subject, the more I'm thinking the problem is related to my alcohol misuse - which would make a lot of sense.

Has anyone else experienced this, and I suppose the big question is, will the libido return in time?

Thanks.

Ive certainly noticed drinking makes my depression much worse which for sure would reduce your libido.

Im currently single so cant give my personal experience!!! What i do know is that a lot of things in many of our lives improve after a period of sobriety and id be very suprised if libido wasnt one of them.

Only one way to find out i guess, stay off the sauce!

I found drink not only reduced my inclination but also ability to perform which in turn reduced inclination. Since stopping drinking this has led to resumption of normality can't believe I had forgotten how much great sex we used to have!

Alcohol does have a big negative effect on libido by causing the "bad" estrogen to skyrocket, lowers sperm count, even testicular shrinkage.
Lots of scientific studies on it for more reading on dr. google.

About 2 weeks, but getting better all the time, once I start shedding a bit more weight that will help too. Booze just ruins your sex life, fortunately my wife is super understanding.

I am a 53 year old man so my age is also a factor.

But I will admit that at 76 days sober things are working better "down there".

I am sure once I get more sober time in things will only improve.

Thanks everyone. I did 10 weeks sober last year (the most ever) and there was zero improvement. I suspect that 10 weeks is a drop in the ocean though :0(

I'm like Doug and I am in My mid fifties. I'm over six months sober and "everything" is better. I think at about two or three months was when I started to notice "improved enthusiasm "😀

Just to add some context I'm in my early forties, may explain why I erm, "bounced back" a bit sooner.

Oh I know there's hope. Like I said in my mid fifties and I think about it like this. For me sobriety leads to a more active life style, better nutrition, better sleep, a better mental state, so naturally a stronger labido. Just give it time you'll see😀

Well I'm 70 and can tell you even at my age everything is better being sober...sex, sleep, exercise, weight loss, memory, attitude and the list goes on. I'm on day 205.
