cravings

Ok, just finished a damn month sober. Today I finished my work week, it's awesome weather and I had an awesome ride home-all triggers for me. I've stuffed my face with candy/ice cream/nicotine gum, and feel somewhat better, but still have some cravings. No, I didn't tell my wife. I hope I can get to sleep soon.

Can you get out? Go for a walk. Listen to a sober podcast? Those help me a lot.

Going for a walk, or finding something active to do always helps me as well.

Thank you Bobbieka, I googled "sober Podcasts", and feel better already-no cavern in my innards waiting to be filled by beer...and the podcast wasn't even about alcohol, it was drugs. Although SR is cool, hearing real live sober people is cool too. I need to work on reaching out f2f, but I don't seem able to so far. This did it in a pinch, I'm sure there will be more to come. Thanks! Going to bed...sober.

Way to go on a month Fortress, forge on- stacking up days is really the only way to keep moving ahead in sobriety and you are doing it!

This is good news. Are you speaking of biking when you say you had a great ride home? That used to be a major trigger for me too.

Now I am positively addicted to my iced coffee instead...

I wonder if it's worth making one treat the go to when cravings get really bad.
Today's been weird for me as well - the first day in the supermarket that I thought, oh it might be nice to…………, then shut myself down pretty quickly and analyzed - I was thirsty

Fort,

The mental is the real killer of our addiction.

It is relentless early on, it gets easier, better each day....as you know.

18 months here and every emotion lends itself to the drink.

But, i am feeling such a physical and mental strength and acuity that i almost laugh at the thought of ever altering my body w drugs again.

Thanks.

The tips and tricks are great but what really worked for me was urge surfing.

You will face cravings at some time, particularly in the early days. Most, if not all, of us do.

If you can practice a technique to deal with them and have that ready to go, so much the better Fortress
