10 months sober today...

Again just a big thank you to everyone on SR for the continued support it helps more than you think !

So close to reaching that big milestone of ONE YEAR now and I'm
Determined to get there. This time last year was when I 100% hit rock bottom with my drinking , everything was out of control, lost my job, admitted I needed help and went to my first ever meeting. It didn't go to plan and I spent the whole festive period in a mess , drinking anything I could lay my hands on. This time around it's going to be different , bring it on...

That's great James, well done! I am coming up the festive season and I have used accrued hours to have 3 weeks off. In hindsight do you have any tips?

Keep it going. I was so happy at 10.5 months and then lost it. I was at my ideal weight and everything. Now I am at 13 days and 20 pounds heavier, and it's going to be so difficult for me to lose the weight again.😢

Take it one day at a time, worst time of the year as alcohol just seems to slap you in the face where ever you go , even in places you're not expecting. Drive everywhere, work do, family party, shopping etc... The temptation is even greater over the festive period, so if you do get tempted you can just drive home or if someone asks you, you can simply say sorry I'm driving.

Biggest tip would be just dont let the fact it's Christmas overwhelm you and make you think you have to drink due to the time of year , just do your own thing and you will still have fun and remain sober.

Good luck
