Nearly 30 days sober and mind is foggy GI problems
Hi SR,
Tomorrow I will be 30 days clean from alcohol but my mind has been very foggy. I have also been having stomach problems but I think that is stress from starting school 4 weeks ago. I need to rely on my brain for school and hope it clears up soon.
Do you all know when I should beginning to see some normalcy? I slowed down a lot 3 months ago so I was not heavy drinking before quiting. I have quit and started again many times so I think the withdrawals are getting longer each time.
Any advice would be very helpful!
Thanks

Hi SoberComposer - congrats on 30 days
It's difficult to define 'normal' or to guesstimate how long something might last because the process is different in each of us.
I had brain fog for a good three months, but my last detox bought me added problems so your mileage may vary.
My GI issues cleared up almost immediately tho so it may indeed be something else.
Maybe it's worth asking a doctor about that?
If it's got you worried, you might touch on the subject of the fogginess too?

I just started a very intense educational program so I am sure the GI problems are from that. As it mainly gets bad when I score poorly. ;/
I was hoping it was due to body regulation but I bet it is stress. If it continues for another week, I will see the doc.
Thanks
Try to focus on studying in many ways, use visual, auditory, kinesthetic ways to learn your lessons. Don't focus on recovery so much. For me, the physical changes were much slower than anticipated, but I could focus on other areas well!
SoberC,
I was in a living hell, off and on, for at least 6 months. I found SR at 80 days sober. I went to my first AA meeting at about 100 days clean.
I struggled w crazy anxiety well into a year.
Now at 16 months, it is like a whole new world. I have to intentionally take it slow while driving and while working out. I don't want to do anything silly.
So, see a dr. If you need to. Get plenty of rest, eat well, work out. Depending on the years you drank, the amounts you drank, and your constitution it can take a long time to break out of the funk.
Stay clean, otherwise.....the clock resets..they tell me...
You are physically clean. It is a mental job now. Getting used to normal.
Thanks.
