16 hours sober

I want a drink so badly. I have some vodka left, and I keep thinking I could drink that so it does not go to waste. And it would also help me in getting off alcohol a bit more gradually. Any thoughts?

I think you should pour it out. You will feel so proud of yourself - YOU are in control, not the vodka. <3<3<3

I poured out my wine yesterday and understand the thought "well I spent money on it, so I should drink it." That's the beast talking, not your heart. Hang in there.

Hi Shelby

I agree with everyone else - try to think of that bottle as poison - it would be a waste to drink it.

You came here for a reason - don't put off starting your new life

I hope you pour it out.
If you're feeling really badly in withdrawal, why not see a Dr?

Yup agreed pour it down the toilet and flush it like the other junk that goes down there.

The first little bit is the hardest but you can do it

you dont want something that is killing you to go to waste???
its just a wee bit of rationalization to say it will help you get off alcohol more gradually.
IF you experience any problems with withdrawl, you can go to an ER.
it would be much safer.

getting sober isnt easy. almost everyone here had to fight the craving, compulsion, and obsession.
but its well worth the fight.

Vodka makes a great drain cleaner, cuts through hair, grease, sludge, etc.....

Drinking that is like opening a door to find there is no floor......

Dump it, hang tight and keep moving forward with sobriety!!!!!

When you wake up tomorrow don't drink.

9/2/16 is a great sounding sobriety date!

Make the choice.

Make it your date!

Then get to a meeting!

God bless

Thank everyone for their responses. All of you are right. I just ate dinner, and that helps me to not drink. As soon as I finish this message, I am going to pour it out. I needed the affirmation and almost unanimous messages. Thank you.

Ill tell you too Shelby, its empowering to dump that poison out!
I even had a conversation with it. Im sure anyone listening would have thought I was crazy but I didnt care I was like screaming at it, telling it that it is the DEVIL and EVIL and POISON and is DISGUSTING and some other choice words that I wont repeat here but you get my drift right?

Since I did that 32 days ago, I felt the obsession to drink lifted from me and havent had a craving since! I guess the poison took me seriously lol!

Welcome Shelby! Keep checking in with us, we will be here for you!

Get rid of that stuff and start counting your days instead of hours. It is worth it!
