My business went bust today and still no drinking

Hi guys,

We've had a fun day here,

For the last few months we have been fighting the taxman to try and negotiate a deal to pay off an old debt after a client failed to pay me £7000.

A few weeks ago we had a winding up petition delivered against us and today the bank froze our business account which ultimately brought the end.

Normally I'd see this as an excellent opportunity to go out and get bladdered but today I'm sitting in a hotel drinking ice cold bottled water.

Luckily I have another very small business where I've managed to transfer our decent clients to and I'm now in a clear frame of mind to take on the challenge of building that up minus the tax debt problem.

I just wanted to share for my own good,

I hope everyone is good,

Bruno.

Sorry, Bruno.

I've gone bust and back a few times. All sober. I was never in a position to come back from anything when drinking.

Here's to better times.

Best wishes, Bruno! As Dee says, "It will all work out in the end. If it hasn't worked out, it's not the end."

Thanks very much guys,

Yes it certainly is a lot easier when sober to take on a bad situation. If I was still in my old cycle of drinking/hangover/drinking I would dread to think the effect that it would have on my family life now.

Onwards and upwards

The only things I couldn't climb out of were the things that I did to myself or that happened to me while I was drinking. Getting sober and setting things right in my life, which includes making amends to other people, only made me stronger, regardless of the outcomes. And I didn't even know that this was happening until it had been going on for awhile.

Very true,

Most of the problems that I found most difficult to deal with were self imposed.

Bruno, Thanks, that is so encouraging to hear...and I call that "Living Life on Life's Terms"...making decisions and living with them, taking action and not caving to alcohol or drugs...Now that I am sober there are so many things in life to attend...I wonder, how I had made the time to drink as much, as I did. But in thinking back on it, I wasn't living life at all...I was just barely floating thru another day...getting thru it at all (at times) was very painful, and often complex. I did not want to live, and I wasn't coping at all, and my problems just got worse. I am so grateful to have arrested the (physical part, especially) of the disease, so I could put my attention to living life on life's terms, because it isn't near as overwhelming, or painful...And as you said, on your post "Luckily I have another very small business where I've managed to transfer our decent clients to and I'm now in a clear frame of mind to take on the challenge of building that up minus the tax debt problem." And you couldn't have done any of this, or very well anyway without your sobriety, and in learning how to live again. Despite the aggravation and worry behind things in life, I think it is far better managed sober. You've done well, and good job.
